What is canthal tilt?
Canthal tilt is the angle of the line between the inner and outer corners of the eye relative to a horizontal reference. A positive angle means the outer corner is higher. A negative angle means it is lower. Near zero, the corners are close to level.

The signed angle is near level. A small negative or positive value is still a direction.
How we measure it
- A face landmark model runs in your browser and marks both inner and outer corners.
- Head roll is taken from the midline of the face. A 3D pose estimate is used only when it agrees with that midline, so a height difference between the inner corners is not erased.
- Each eye angle is measured after the roll is removed. The average is the main number.
- You can drag the four points. The angle updates from the points you place.
Why head position matters
A raw photo angle mixes the eye line with whatever way the head is leaning. Mild roll is corrected. A strong turn, an upturned chin, or a camera below the face is not “fixed” with a guess. The tool asks for another photo.
This tool measures geometry in a photo. It does not provide medical advice or an attractiveness diagnosis.

Left and right can differ
The report names your left eye and your right eye. A difference of a degree or two can be the face, the photo, or both. It is not automatically a problem to correct.
A usable measurement photo
- Camera at eye level, face straight ahead
- Both eyes open, corners uncovered
- Enough light to see the corners without harsh shadow
- Hold still. In camera mode, wait until the guide says ready
How accurate is a photo measurement?
The result is an estimate from one photograph, or from several camera frames, after the face is checked for a usable pose. A level camera and a still face matter. You can move the eye-corner markers if the automatic points miss. Camera mode keeps only the stable frames and reports how tightly they agree. None of this is a medical measurement.

Questions
What is canthal tilt?
Canthal tilt is the angle of the line between the inner and outer corners of the eye relative to a horizontal reference.
How is canthal tilt measured?
This tool finds the inner and outer eye corners, removes head roll, and reports the angle of each eye plus the average. You can drag the four points if the automatic placement is off.
What is a positive canthal tilt?
Positive means the outer corner sits higher than the inner corner. It describes direction, not attractiveness.
What is a negative canthal tilt?
Negative means the outer corner sits lower than the inner corner. It is a geometric description, not a verdict.
Can head angle affect the result?
Yes. Looking up, down, or sideways changes the photo. Mild head roll is corrected. Large yaw or pitch is rejected so the tool does not invent a precise number.
Can the left and right eyes differ?
Yes. The report lists your left eye, your right eye, and the difference between them.
Is canthal tilt the same as eye shape?
No. Canthal tilt is one angle. Eye shape also includes eyelid exposure, spacing, and the outline of the opening. Those are separate measurements.
